Journey 7 - Merlot

$375.00   750mL
SOLD OUT

Merlot is the grape people love to dismiss.  True, there is a sea of easy drinking, simple Merlot in every supermarket, but placed in the right soil and in the right hands this grape can take on an otherworldly dimension.  Clearly, we are a little biased, but Merlot can produce some of the most structured, age-worthy and enticing wines we’ve ever known. On this journey, we’ll experience producers and regions crafting remarkably collectable Merlot wines and we’re certain they will be show-stoppers.

In order to pack and ship these wines to arrive in time for the first virtual tasting, this package is only available for purchase until 12 pm on November 4 or until it sells out.

2018 Tenuta Guado al Tasso - Cont'Ugo, Bolgehri, Italy -- Marchesi Antinori is the architect of some of the most renowned wines in Tuscany.  Here, Tenuta Guado al Tasso is his project using international grapes.  100% Merot from clay soils bring a fragrance, complexity, and spice notes that linger on the palate.

2018 Chappellet, Napa Valley, California -- Chappellet's Merlot is a luscious wine.  Sourced from mountain sites, this wine commands your attention with black cherries and cassis giving way to forest floor.  Supple tannins and richness frame a structure that makes for a bold yet elegant wine.

2016 Craggy Range - Sophia, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand -- These grapes are grown on gravelly soils with wonderful drainage that create a concentrated wine.  Lifted aromatics of dark berries, cocoa, and hints of caramel are surrounded by firm, fine tannins which provide elegance and great length on the palate.

The Virtual Tasting will be at 5:30pm on Thursday, November 18th.
