Journey 8 - Cabernet Sauvignon

The grape we all know and love, and for good reason.  When it’s good… it’s very good. 

Here at RdV, we continue to carve out space for Cabernet Sauvignon in every corner that we can.   Truly a wine of backbone, this grape is at home in the Medoc, but has found a voice in nearly every corner of the world.  Powerful, regal and sophisticated styles abound, and we’ll dive in to see just which ones are worth seeking out.  

In order to pack and ship these wines to arrive in time for the virtual tasting, this wine package (2 bottles) is only available for purchase until 12 pm on November 4th or until it sells out.

2016 Château Phélan Ségur, Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux, France -- This producer always performs above its class.  From the commune of Saint-Estèphe, the wine is brooding and intellectual.  Dark berries, cocoa nibs, and earthy walnut tones meld together to create a rich intensity.  This wine is a wonderful example of a Bordeaux that can age for a decade.

2018 Joseph Phelps - Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California -- Joseph Phelps wines are built on quality, consistency, and legacy.  Still family operated, this Phelps wine is the quintessential Napa Cab.  The nose is floral - all violets and roses.  On the palate, ripe blackberry and cedar bring sweet and savory notes.
